Arithmetic, not oracle
Every rating in Cazimera is math you could do on paper. Here’s how the app does it, including the parts we’re still unsure about. If you disagree with a weight, you’re disagreeing with a number in a table, which is the point.
§ 01 · THE SUM

WHO SPEAKS
Every task has a set of planets that speak for it: the Moon, always; the planet ruling the category’s house in your chart and the category’s natural planets at full weight; a second category’s at 40%; and the year’s Time Lord at one and a half times whatever it already is.
THE BALANCE
Three blocks add support or obstruction as separate totals. The Moon, about 40%: its next aspect, its sign, its phase. Your transits, about 40%: the moving planets against your chart’s planets and angles, and anything passing through the category’s own houses. Everyone’s astrology, about 20%: planet-to-planet aspects, the lunation, the planetary hour. The number reads the balance, support minus obstruction.
THE STRETCH
The balance is measured against what this kind of read has run over the surrounding month, so a score says how a window compares with your own recent weeks, not with an absolute. A window that matches its stretch exactly is a Mixed 55.
THE GATES
Voids, retrogrades, eclipses, stations, and combustion add no points. They cap the word: a window inside one can’t rate above a ceiling, whatever the balance says. Cazimi is the only gate that lifts, one tier, and it does so last.

This is the routing table the app ships: the houses each category belongs to and the planets that speak for it, from traditional significations. The ruler of each house comes from your own chart, so it can’t be printed here, and the Moon is always in the set. It still needs a working astrologer’s pass, so if you are one, write to us.

§ 04 · WHAT’S IN A TRANSIT
No line in Cazimera is generated on the fly. Every sentence was written by a person, or filled from a record by a template, which is why the app can show its work and why two people with the same transit see the same sentence.

§ 05 · NIGHT DIMMING
A field painted at full brightness across all 24 hours makes 3am look like a reasonable time to launch something. So the display dims the uncommon hours, 11pm to 5am. The score for these hours never changes; only the visual does.

§ 06 · SPECIAL EVENTS

Void of course
Between the Moon’s last aspect and its next sign, traditional practice says finish things rather than start them. In the app a void is a gate: a window that falls inside one can’t rate above a ceiling, whatever the transits say. The day draws it as a hatched band, not a warning.

Retrogrades
A gate sized to the act. Mercury retrograde caps launches and anything about words; Mars retrograde caps physical and competitive starts; Venus retrograde caps romantic firsts and big purchases made for looks; a retrograde ruler of the category’s own house caps it more gently. Nothing is zeroed out and nothing says don’t. Revising under Mercury retrograde earns support points instead of a cap.

Cazimi
A planet within seventeen arcminutes of the Sun’s center. The app is named for it: rare, brief, and the one gate that lifts a word instead of capping it, by one tier. Closer than about eight degrees without being cazimi is combustion, which caps.

Eclipses
Always on the calendar, never a catastrophe. Within about three days of an eclipse a window is capped (five days for a big deal); when the eclipse lands within three degrees of your Sun, Moon, or angles, the cap hardens and the window widens to a week. It gives shape to a month more than to any single day.

No birth time
A noon chart is used; houses and the Ascendant are left out rather than guessed, so the house rulers and the Time Lord sit the read out. The Moon and the category’s natural planets still score, and the app says so on the screen where it matters.

Stations
Any planet that speaks for the task stationing within 48 hours caps the window, because the app treats a planet standing still as the loudest thing it does.
§ 07 · WHAT WE DON’T CLAIM
Where we know we’re limited
Astrology isn’t a physical mechanism with a measured effect size, and we don’t pretend a score tells you how things will turn out. What the app can do is put a consistent, transparent, traditional astrological reading next to your calendar, the same way every time, so you can decide whether it’s useful to you.
Nothing here is medical, legal, financial, or any other concrete advice. Nothing in the app will ever tell you to cancel or skip something; when you ask for a better time, it finds one, and the choice stays yours.

A professional astrologer’s pass on the numbers
The routing table is traditional and the four anchors are measured, but the weights inside the blocks and the anchors themselves were set by an astrology hobbyist. They are the knobs, and they should be turned by someone who does this for a living.

Color-vision-deficiency mode
Score is already shown by brightness and numerals, but category identity is still color-only. Glyph labels and pattern encoding are on the backlog, not yet designed.

Relocation for travel days
When you cross time zones, which chart should the day be read against? Currently your home location. Arguable that it should change.

The almanac page shows only what the dataset says. The home page and the figures here still run on a hand-authored sample chart and a simplified model that draws voids and retrogrades as subtractions; the app does the real arithmetic, on your device.
